I had plans to go to the zoo with some girlfriends and their little ones on Thursday and Thursday morning Coleman got sick in his highchair. I attributed it to overeating and thought he would be okay after a nap. Off to the zoo we went and it wasn't long before I was holding him as he fell asleep on my shoulder and pushed Carter through the zoo...I'm sure it was a sight to see! We had a great time with the girls, but I was happy to get my little guy home and out of the sun and crowds. He continued to get sick in the evening and was on water and pedialyte only as I hoped it would get out of his system soon. Friday morning he came around and was feeling better and by Saturday he was good to go! But Saturday morning both Carter and I got sick and while I bounced back by that afternoon, Carter ran a fever and was pretty mopey and run down until Monday morning. It was a long few days for us and the boys both just wanted their Mommy and for me to hold them...I didn't mind that part too much but am glad everyone is feeling better!! Thankfully, I think we are all done with the sickness bug and glad that Jared didn't get it!
One of our new favorite things to do is to point...at our 12 month check up the pediatrician asked if they were pointing at objects and I realized that they weren't...mainly because Jared and I are not big pointers. I then of course came home and read all about how pointing at objects help build vocabulary and will help them communicate wants when they do not know the word. Soooo...of course the pointing lessons then began!!
Here is Carter pointing at the one thing I think he loves more than anything...Nestle! I really think he's going to say Nestle before he ever says Mommy...and I'm okay with that :o) I love Nes to the moon and back too!
I'm sure I'm not any different than any other Mommy out there when I think that there just isn't anything more precious than our baby boys. Jared even picks on me because all night long I look at their pictures on my cell phone...I just can't get enough of those sweet faces!!
Of course I also like to sneak into their room at night to have one last peek before I go to bed too...look at these sweet pose Carter was in the other night. I couldn't help but take a picture of that sweet boy!
After our lunch this afternoon we headed to the park to meet Jennifer and the rest of the fabulous four (her twin boys, Connor and Trenton). It has been weeks since it has been nice enough for us to get back into our walking routine and it was nice to finally walk a few miles and chat instead of chasing after 4 crazy crawlers in our playroom! After our walk we took the boys over to the toddler park and let them swing on the swings...it was definitely such a cute sight to see! Look at those four little sets of toes...so blessed!
The weather was BEAUTIFUL on Monday, so the boys and I headed outside to play in the backyard. I hadn't set up their water table yet, so I decided that their inflatable duck could work for the time being and the boys loved it! It wasn't long before Coleman decided that he needed to get inside the duck and really get wet! After all of our playing (and after our clothes were dry) it was time for a walk before our afternoon nap. I hope this warm weather is here to stay!!
We had SO much fun as a family this weekend during a much needed vacation. It was supposed to be our alumni weekend for UAB soccer as well as a 2nd birthday party for Anna's sweet little guy, William. I supposed to be because the game was canceled due to all of the rain they had this week and the field condition but aside from the game all of the other alumni events went on as planned. I really don't think we could've fit anything else into this jam packed weekend but the fun we had and the memories that we made were priceless and worth the exhaustion that all four of us are feeling today.
We stayed with Jessica, Dave, and Eva-Rose who is just a few months older than the munchkins. Jessica and I used to be roommates in college....how the times have changed now that we have kiddos of our own! The boys LOVED Eva-Rose and playing with all of her toys... Friday night we had an alumni get together and were able to meet the new coach and then have some fun with the alumni...Here is a picture of my girls that have been my best friends for 13 years!...LOVE and miss them each so much! Saturday morning we headed over to William's birthday party at the barn. Coleman and Carter had a blast and so did we! I still can't believe that sweet little guy is now a 2 year old! At the barn there were animals running loose everywhere and the boys had so much fun laughing at them and petting each of them. Coleman REALLY loved the horses and wanted them to come to him. After the party we headed to lunch to see some of the girls... Then it was off to the new railroad park in Birmingham with the girls and Miss Eva-Rose. The park was awesome and I wish that we could go there every weekend! After the park it was a quick nap for the boys and then off to Coach Harbin's house for some fun with everyone... The boys did great throughout all of the events and new people and places that they visited but we could tell by Sunday morning that they had had their fair share of being off their schedules and were ready to get back into their own beds. I am so glad they had the chance to meet all of their other "Mommies" this weekend though! I know that I am blessed to have such an amazing group of women to call my best friends and to see all of their families and each of them meant so much to me. Can't wait for our next trip back to Birmingham!
The boys are really loving feeding themselves (especially when it comes to goldfish and cheerios!). One of Carter's favorite things to do though is to "feed" you...he thinks it is hilarious and would do it all afternoon if you let him but we try to keep our feeding to a minimum and let him feed himself!
